San Jose Airport’s PrimeFlight Fuelers Vote ‘Union Yes’ to Join IAM District 141

Approximately 33 Prime Flight fuelers at San Jose Mineta International Airport in San Jose, California, voted unanimously for IAM representation on September 17, 2026.
The victory marks a significant step forward for these workers, who came together seeking improvements to their pay, benefits, and working conditions.
“The IAM welcomes these brave Prime Flight Fuelers who stood together to better their profession into our great union,” said IAM Air Transport General Vice President Richie Johnsen. “I’d like to thank District 141 for doing a great job in this campaign. Now that the first phase of this campaign is over, we will work together to achieve the fair first contract that these Prime Flight Fuelers deserve.”
The Prime Flight fuelers cited substandard pay, benefits, and working conditions as the reasons they sought IAM representation.
“IAM District 141 is very proud to welcome the Prime Flight Fuelers into the IAM’s largest district,” said IAM District 141 President and Directing General Chairman Mike Klemm. “We will now mobilize to ensure that these Prime Flight workers attain justice at the bargaining table and respect on the job.”
“I’d like to congratulate the Prime Flight fuelers in San Jose for standing together in unity and forming a union with the IAM,” said IAM District 141 Director of Membership Services Frank Giannola. “These workers deserve a lot more respect, and by voting for IAM representation, they are going to get that respect.”
Giannola also recognized the efforts of IAM organizers Danny Paulazzo and Andrew Garmeson, thanking them for keeping the fuelers engaged and unified throughout the campaign.
With the organizing victory secured, the Prime Flight fuelers will now turn their attention toward bargaining for their first IAM contract.
Prime Flight provides aircraft fueling services for every airline operating at San Jose Mineta International Airport in San Jose, California.
