Sightline Intelligence & DEVCOM Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC) Partner on AI-Powered Target Acquisition and Tracking

CRADA combines Army operational data and expertise with Sightline's AiTR platform to develop mission-specific AI for targeting and tracking applications

PORTLAND, OR, UNITED STATES, September 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Sightline Intelligence, a leader in AI-enabled target recognition for advanced camera systems, today announced a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center (DEVCOM AvMC) to develop and evaluate mission-specific AI target recognition capabilities for Army applications using Sightline's AiTR platform and Army operational datasets.

Under the agreement, Sightline Intelligence will provide DEVCOM AvMC with its AiTR (Aided Target Recognition) platform, development tools, and model training user interface to enable Army teams to develop and assess government-owned target recognition models using Army-relevant operational data. The effort creates a practical path for transforming Army operational data into mission-specific AI capabilities tailored to Army requirements, and is expected to support Army modernization priorities across missile seekers, launched effects, ISR, Long Range Precision Fires, and Air and Missile Defense systems.

Beyond the immediate collaboration, the CRADA highlights the growing importance of mission-specific AI capabilities built on operationally relevant data. By enabling government organizations to develop and maintain their own models within Sightline AiTR while retaining ownership of the resulting capabilities, the effort establishes a model for how future DoD programs can create AI solutions tailored to their unique mission Requirements.

The jointly developed capabilities are expected to support multiple Army stakeholder efforts, including Launched Effects programs, missile modernization initiatives, ISR platforms, Long Range Precision Fires, Air and Missile Defense systems, and future Science and Technology development activities.
